General and specific information about Petaquilla

- The objective for Petaquilla and Richard Fifer is to develop a model of responsible mining, always looking for alternatives that mitigate environmental changes and at the same time contribute to improving the quality of life in surrounding communities, efficiently using resources with the appropriate technology, restoring ecosystems that can be transformed and at the same time, preserving the natural resources for future generations.
- Petaquilla and Richard Fifer develop in Panama the Molejon Gold (Petaquilla Gold S.A.) projects and the Petaquilla copper project (Petaquilla Copper Ltd.), located both in the province of Colon, in the central region of the country.
- The Government of Panama approved since September 2005, the development of the plan presented by the company in in several stages. The first phase corresponds to the deposit of Molejon Gold which began in 2006, being the largest central mining project. Its implementation in motion will activate the economies of the country.
- This mining development has taken into account all the environmental impacts of this activity and the prevention and environmental mitigation measures provided for and by national and international standards.
- Petaquilla seeks the development of the community in their area of influence, in a substantial manner, playing the role of facilitator and strategic partner, without falling into paternalism, providing the necessary tools for grow, while carrying out its activities effectively.
- The Petaquilla project and Richard Fifer also will also make available to Cocle, Colon, Veraguas, and the entire Republic of Panama, a new axis of communications from North to South, articulator of the country, infrastructure for water and energy, vocational training and employment support as well as improvements in the health and education sector, teacher training and even support in order feed a large number of children attending schools in the area.

- In terms of employment opportunities, Petaquilla has generated over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs and, at the time when it will reach its full production stage, several thousands of people will have jobs linked to this activity. One of the most interesting aspects is the fact that most of these will be decentralized, characteristics that few productive activities have the luxury of announcing.
- In what the company contributes to the social security fund, today amounts approximately to 114,000 balboas monthly.
- Also, a large number of its employees which execute activities where it is not required to have specialized skills, live in surrounding communities to the project. The province of Cocle, for example, provides the largest number of workers (56% of the total). In this way, through stable jobs and compliance of every standard set by the Labor Code meet, we reaffirm our commitment to proving local job opportunities.
