Castilla del Oro Foundation represents a unique opportunity for the central provinces

A “unique opportunity” for the communities of the Azuero Peninsula and other central provinces, that is how its executive director, Jorge Isaac Obon, rated the performance of the Castilla del Oro Foundation since its creation in March 2010.
“When they asked me to be the Executive Director of the Foundation, I liked the project and the idea to give to all those towns the opportunity of a life time”, highlighted Obon.
He said that when the offer was made, it was a normal project, which has grown incredibly day by day, because of the amount of projects that have been presented by the municipalities for approval and execution by the Foundation.
He stated that watching the execution and dynamism imprinted by the Foundation to these projects has inspired the mayors of the provinces of Cocle, Colon, Herrera, Los Santos, and Veraguas, to present proposals to boost the tourist attractions at the rural communities.
Obon used as example two of the most important projects the Foundation has sponsored, which are the renovation of the San Sebastian Inn in Ocu, and the renovation of the tower of the San Francisco de la Montana church; as well as the purchasing of boats to transport tourists to the Mariato community in Veraguas, and the cars that will be driven by Andalusian horses, which will be a great tourist attraction.
“All of this will change the image of these communities”, said the executive director of the Castilla del Oro Foundation.
In this sense, he added that the province of Cocle, which is the entrance of Castilla del Oro, has changed enormously, with the embellishment of parks and clean streets.
“This is all part of the tourist development and the leadership of businessman Richard Fifer Carles, who fathered this project and gave special interest to it”, stated Obon.
To date, they have projects executed and to be executed for a sum that surpasses 12 million dollars, and has done two tours with the mayors and the governor to Spain, with the goal of having them see how this country has developed rural tourism, an area on which they have become leaders.
For the next October, the Foundation will have another tour of mayors and governors to Spain, and within their future plans is a trip to the U.S. to get backup for their tourist projects, stated Obon.
